iPhone

  1. Open the text so the message and the sender's number are on screen.
  2. Press the side button and volume-up button at the same time (older iPhones: side + home). The screen flashes.
  3. It saves to Photos — come back here and tap “Add from Photos.”

Android

  1. Open the text so the whole message shows.
  2. Press power and volume-down at the same time.
  3. It saves to your Photos/Gallery — come back and tap “Add from Photos.”

On a computer, you can also copy a screenshot and tap “Paste a screenshot of full text.”
