Baloney

Your privacy

Last updated: June 2026 · This is a beta version and our practices may change before public launch.

Baloney exists to protect you, so protecting your information is part of the job. Here's exactly what we do and don't do, in plain language.

What we never ask for

We never ask for — and you should never enter — your account numbers, passwords, PINs, Social Security number, or full card numbers. To check a message, we only need the message itself. If anything ever asks you for those details, that's a warning sign in itself.

What you share, and why

  • The message you submit — the suspicious text, email, or a screenshot/PDF you choose to upload. We use it only to analyze it and give you a result.
  • Your email — only if you create an account, so you can sign in and see your past checks.
  • The services you use— if you fill out your profile (for example, “I use Chase”), so we can spot a fake alert from a bank you've never used. We only ask which institutions you use — never any account details.

Checks without an account are not saved

When you check a message without signing in, we analyze it, show you the result, and do not save it. There's no account and no history kept.

Checks in your account are private to you

If you're signed in, your checks are saved to your account so you can look back at them. They are stored privately and are visible only to you — other users cannot see them, and any uploaded screenshots are kept in private storage.

How the analysis works

To analyze your message, we send its contents to a trusted third-party AI provider — Anthropic, the maker of Claude — which processes it only to generate your result. We use this solely to give you the analysis you asked for.

No ads. No selling your data.

We do not run advertising and we do not sell or rent your information. A tool that watches for scams can't make its money that way — so we don't. We only answer to you.

Keeping it safe

Your information is handled over secure, encrypted connections and stored with reputable providers. We keep only what we need to provide the service.

Deleting your information

You're in control of your data. A one-tap “delete my account and everything in it” is on the way. While we're in this early beta, we'll remove your account and saved checks whenever you ask — just reach out at gary@ospreymediaconsulting.com.
